Gemsbok are light brown to grey in colour and have long-haired black tails. It has a black, horizontal
stripe on the lower flanks which flows over to the upper legs. The rest of the legs and belly are white.
It lives in semi-dessert and dry savannah and feeds on grass, succulent tubers and some fruit.
Lion, spotted hyena and the cape hunting dog count as its enemies.
