A large antelope of which males and females have long horns that curl backwards. Average male horns are about 40 inches (102 centimetres) long. Males have beautiful black brown coats which get darker with age, while females are dark brown in colour. Sables have white bellies and buttocks up to under the tail area. They are strong defenders and will await the attackers backed up against a bush, heads lowered, using their horns as a powerful weapon.
