Waterbuck

A big antelope with an characteristic white circle on the buttocks, around the tail area. Males weigh about 440 to 594 pounds
(200 to 270 kilograms) and have froward curling horns with an average length of 30 inches (76 centimetres).
Waterbuck have greyish-brown coats with long, coarse hair. As their name implies, they are always near water.
Herds consist mostly of females and calves, or males only. Some males remain solitary.
Males are territorial and fierce fighting is not an uncommon sight.
Water is a safe haven in times of danger. An unpleasant odour given off by the skin is reckoned to be the reason
crocodiles don't usually attack Waterbuck.
